Petrov has recently been linked with a move to Sunderland following the appointment of former Aston Villa manager Martin O’Neill.
“That came out from the blue and I’m very happy at Villa,” explained Petrov.
“When the transfer windows come there is speculation, but I’m a Villa player and every time I go out I play with all my heart.
“I don’t have the intention to go. I want to stay. It’s up to them if they want me but I’d love to stay and I’m enjoying it.”
Petrov’s current contract with Villa is set to expire in the summer of 2013.
