The 22-year-old have joined Port Vale on a one-month loan from the Premier League side.
Port Vale boss Jim Gannon told the club’s official website: “I have tracked the progress of James’ career carefully having previously tried to sign him when I was manager at Motherwell and he was at Galway.
“Unfortunately on that occasion he went to Birmingham but I am delighted we have managed to sign him on loan now for Port Vale. He is a player with creative flair who can bring a real attacking dimension to the team and I am certain he will complement our squad here and work well with our existing players.”
