Halford is currently on loan at Portsmouth from Wolves until January.
“Halford’s on loan until January. We might be able to extend it but it depends where Wolves are,” Cotterill told the Portsmouth News.
“I’ve got a good relationship with Mick McCarthy but I think it’s better for him (Halford).
“It’s hard when a player comes in for a month but he will now be with us through December and the Christmas period.
“He will probably end up going out on a Christmas do with the players so he’s probably starting to feel a bit more part of it with us.”
