Redknapp revealed: “I spoke to Pearcey just over a week ago. He was looking to take Andy O’Brien on loan. He’s done a great job at Manchester City.
“I’m sure he has what it takes to go on and be a top manager. It’s good that he got the England under-21 job. I’m pleased for him. He is one of the brightest talents around, so he could be looked at as a future England manager.
“But you never know how things will turn in this job from one year to the next. One moment you are the flavour of the month, the next people are against you.
“David Platt was seen as one of the best young managers around a couple of years ago.
“But he’s been out of a job for a while. That’s how it goes.”
