“And, unfortunately, Paul Robinson’s first-half misfortunes did little to suggest the Spurs man is now the automatic No 1.
“I sympathised enormously with Paul. After conceding two goals in the opening 45 minutes, he would have been desperate to stay on and do his bit for England in the second period.
“But no one can begrudge Portsmouth Football Club and their fans being proud to see our man back between the sticks in an England jersey after the interval.”
