Redknapp admitted: “Who knows where I could be this time next year? I signed a three-year contract in the summer and hopefully I will still be here.
“But you just don’t know what could happen tonight, tomorrow or any other day.
“This is the most satisfying thing I’ve ever done. I took the challenge on when it would have been easy to do nothing.
“People told me I was off my head when I came back here. They said there was no chance of keeping us up. A lot of the supporters were not happy when I came back but others knew Pompey were doomed without me. And by the end of the season I’d won them all over.
“There were a lot of people waiting for me to fail. But I didn’t.
“Now things are a bit different. The atmosphere is better, there’s a better squad of players and we’ve had a great start to the season.”
