Sky Sports reports that Lawson is set to link up with Pompey next week and will train with the club.
The 18-year-old has come through the youth ranks at Dulwich Hamlet, the club where Arsenal legend Ian Wright began his career before being signed by Crystal Palace.
Lawson has also been linked with the likes of Crystal Palace and Charlton.
