Premier League preview – Week 36

Everton v Fulham

Key Battle: Two teams without much to play for, but the battle between Steven Pienaar and Clint Dempsey as the best midfielder on show at Goodison should be entertaining

Player to Watch: Nikica Jelavic has enjoyed a superb start to life at Goodison – often finishing with one touch, so Fulham will be wary

Talking Point: Everton and Fulham both played well last week and will serve up an enticing duel here, one would assume

Prediction: 2-2

Stoke v Arsenal

Key Battle: Stoke’s physical threat is a constant menace for Arsenal and Tomas Rosicky’s ability to wriggle free of the attention of Dean Whitehead could be key

Player to Watch: Robin van Persie has looked a little jaded and has not scored for six games – time to break the duck?

Talking Point: Arsenal are close to third but need to take at least a point here, one would think

Prediction: 1-1

Sunderland v Bolton

Key Battle: Kevin Davies could make life a nuisance for Michael Turner and Sunderland.

Player to Watch: Bolton need points and the skill of Chris Eagles could cause Sunderland problems.

Talking Point: Ordinarily, this should be a home win, but Bolton are battling well against the drop and Sunderland have looked disinterested of late

Prediction: 0-1

Swansea v Wolves

Key Battle: Karl Henry against Leon Britton is the ultimate clash of styles in the centre of the pitch.

Player to Watch: Scott Sinclair’s pace and skill could be too much for this porous Wolves defence

Talking Point: Having been relegated last week, Wolves would surely rather be anywhere than Swansea – where they will chase shadows for long periods

Prediction: 4-0

West Brom v Aston Villa

Key Battle: Peter Odemwingie could give James Collins a tough time here at the Hawthorns

Player to Watch: Chris Brunt’s delivery is a constant menace for opposing teams and Villa will be wary of him

Talking Point: Villa are looking poor and battling the drop now, and they did lose at home to their rivals earlier this season

Prediction: 1-1

Wigan v Newcastle

Key Battle: Gary Caldwell has been defending brilliantly and organising the Wigan defence of late, but will face a tough test in Papiss Cisse this weekend

Player to Watch: Yohan Cabaye has been superb all season and could cause Wigan problems

Talking Point: Wigan need points, but the pressure is off Newcastle, and their power will be tough for Wigan

Prediction: 2-2

Norwich v Liverpool

Key Battle: Anthony Pilkington has caused opponents problems this season and Liverpool without Lucas will hope Jay Spearing can curb his threat.

Player to Watch: Luis Suarez will hope to show some of this best form as Liverpool gear up for the cup final.

Talking Point: With the FA Cup final just days away it would be easy to understand Liverpool being distracted

Prediction: 2-1

Chelsea v QPR

Key Battle: Fernando Torres will give Anton Ferdinand a run around this weekend after their exploits in Barcelona

Player to Watch: Ramires’ running has been key to Chelsea as they have defended for their lives in recent weeks.

Talking Point: QPR are desperate for the points, and will come and defend – something Chelsea usually do. Two dour defensive teams. This could be a long day.

Prediction: 0-0

Tottenham v Blackburn

Key Battle: Blackburn will hope that Yakubu can cause problems to a weakened Tottenham team, and Younes Kaboul

Player to Watch: Gareth Bale has looked out of ideas of late but will hope to fire his team to a crucial win here

Talking Point: Blackburn have fought valiantly all season and still need to, whilst Spurs are out of form

Prediction: 1-1

Man City v Man Utd

Key Battle: Sergio Aguero and Wayne Rooney are two of the league’s form players and they will be key here

Player to Watch: Carlos Tevez can poke his old employer’s in the eye yet again here

Talking point: United will sit back and invite City onto them, before looking to strike with pace on the break.

Prediction: 0-2
