Ferdinand suffered a hamstring injury in his side’s defeat at Liverpool on Saturday.
But QPR are hoping Matthew Connolly or Fitz Hall could return to provide cover for injured Ferdinand.
“It will probably be a couple of weeks and it opens the door for Matthew Connolly or Fitz Hall, who would be fit next week,” said QPR boss Neil Warnock.
