Taarabt has been a key player for Queens Park Rangers this season, scoring 19 goals.
Rangers secured promotion to the Premier League with a 2-0 win over Watford on Saturday.
“It’s unbelievable. It’s been only one year under Neil Warnock and we make the Premier League with one game less. We are happy,” Taarabt told Sky Sports.
“It’s fantastic to score the decisive goal to win the Championship so I am very happy.
“I take the best player of the season [award] and I take my team to the Premier League. My target at the beginning of the season is to score 20 goals. There is one game left and I hope I can make it.
“It’s been fantastic I have played 43 games. I think I just missed two. I am very happy I made a full season without injury and very proud.
“It’s a dream. That’s why I want to be a player. It’s the kind of games you want to play, you want to play in the Premier League.”
Taarabt is looking forward to the chance to face his former club Tottenham next season.
“I came to the Championship to prove to everyone that they made a mistake to let me go and next year I hope I can prove to everyone that I am still here and I can do it,” he added.
“Harry Redknapp sold me but he has been fantastic with me. He told me the whole time the truth.
“He didn’t tell me to go. He said ‘Here are your options and I’ll let you go’.
“I have nothing to prove to Spurs or to Harry Redknapp. To win the Championship with QPR is more important.”
