Goals from Kyle Lafferty, Steven Davis and Nikica Jelavic, and Steven Naismith’s brace secured the win for Rangers.
“It’s good to have the points. The season’s end is fairly straight-forward, I don’t think there is any great complication,” noted Smith.
“Each of us have to attempt to win the games we’ve got and that’s not an unusual circumstance for the Old Firm. We will continue to try and put the pressure on Celtic by continuing to win.
“That’s what we did today and we are delighted with the outcome.”
Rangers moves four points clear of rivals Celtic with their win at Fir Park.
“Celtic have got two games in hand to make up any goals. Our concentration has got to be on the winning more than anything else,” added Smith.
“Hopefully we can continue to play in the same manner, in the second half especially. We have had some good form in recent weeks and the second half was a good spell for us.
“I don’t think a manager needs to speak to his players specifically about [goal difference]. We all know that aspect is there.
“At half-time, you wouldn’t have thought Rangers would score that many goals because we weren’t playing well enough. In the second half, we did.
“It’s only because we scored five that people are saying we are thinking about goals. We are thinking about playing well and I personally didn’t think we played well enough in the first half, although we did in the second.”
