Ibrox boss Walter Smith watched the 18-year-old in action for Huddersfield last week against Leeds, according to News of the World.
Chelsea, Spurs, Newcastle and Sunderland are also interested in the talented keeper.
But Huddersfield boss Lee Clark is ready to offer him a new deal to keep him at the club.
He said: “We are waiting for a response. We have made what I consider to be a Premiership contract offer to an 18-year-old goalkeeper.
“We are trying everything we possibly can to persuade Alex to stay, but he will eventually end up at the highest level and we know the lad will have ambition to play at the top of the game.
“I believe that he can get there with Huddersfield, but it is his decision.”
