The 32-year-old had only made his return from injury but susinted a new knock against Celtic last weekend.
“James Beattie has had a knock on the hip which he thought was getting better. He was desperate to be involved in last Sunday’s game but he has set himself back a bit,” Rangers boss Walter Smith told the club’s official website.
“So it will be another couple of weeks now before we have him back again.
“He is the one player in our group who really needs games. Most of the squad have played too many but he is not getting enough.
“I would hope the injury would clear up in the next two weeks or three weeks at the latest. So we should have him ready for the December games.”
