But the England centre-back was disappointed that United failed to beat Rangers in the Champions League in his return.
He told Sky Sports: “It was great to be back and play again, to be honest.
“Getting through the 90 minutes is fantastic and I’m looking forward to the next game.”
Ferdinand added: “Rangers came here and set their stall up to defend and maybe go on the counter-attack.
“You have to respect that, they have done well at what they came to do.
“We had some shots from the edge of the box. But our final ball was not as good as it probably should have been to get the three points.”
