Marco Cassetti scored the only goal as Roma beat rivals Lazio in the Derby della Capitale on Sunday.
Ranieri said: “It’s wonderful and I started doing this job for the emotions it can give, so tonight was one of the biggest joys I can ever have in my life.
“To come back into my stadium with the curva packed out and winning the derby, it doesn’t get better than that!”
He added: “I hoped we would be here, obviously. We’re getting points, but haven’t really changed from when we weren’t picking the results up.
“There are still mistakes that must be eradicated. The very positive aspect is that we finally kept a clean sheet!”
