The 30-year-old’s contract with Palermo expired at the end of the season.
Simplicio has signed a deal that will keep him at Roma until the summer of 2013.
“For me, it’s a very important occasion. To wear the Roma shirt is an honour,” the Brazilian told the club’s official website.
“It’s a huge leap in my career and I have to thank everyone who believed in me.”
