Roman backs Chelsea boss

Abramovich is ready to open his chequebook for Ancelotti in the January transfer window.

Ancelotti spoke with Abramovich after Chelsea’s defeat at Marseille earlier this week.

He revealed: “I spoke with Roman after the game and he gave me total support.

“He understood the problems of the team. He’s doing his best to give every one of us at the club, my players and my staff, his total support.”

He added: “He understands very well the problems, the injuries, and that we played good football but didn’t win, which affected our confidence. He understood that.

“When I say I have total support, it means he’s very close to me at this moment. Our relationship is very good. I have trust in him and he has trust in me.

“It’s very important to have the support of the club and the players when moments aren’t good. You have to have trust with each other. He’s been closer to us in this period compared to the other moments.

“I don’t fear for my job. I feel I have the total support of my players, which is very important. I feel I have the total support from my club. For these reasons, I don’t have fear. I am an optimist that everything will be okay for this season.

“We spoke about the situation of the team. If I tell you that the owner is available to do something in January, it means we spoke about this.

“If we need to improve our squad in January, we’ll be able to do this. The owner is available for us to do this.

“But now’s not the time to think about this. We have to play with these players against Tottenham.”
