The 23-year-old’s wife, Coleen, is due to give birth on the 24th October, just three days after United’s clash in Moscow.
United face Liverpool at Anfield on the 25th October and that is also a game the England international could miss.
“Of course I want to be there for the birth of my child and if anything happens around the days of travelling then I’m sure I’ll stay back and won’t go but unless that happens I will be there playing,” Rooney explained.
“It’s due a few days after. Of course it’s a long way (to Moscow) but I’ve got a job to go and play for United so unless anything happens then I’ll be there.”
