United boss Sir Alex Ferguson told at his pre-match press conference that the England international has been struggling with a chest infection.
“Wayne Rooney had a bit of a chest infection and he’s been off this week,” Sir Alex revealed. “But hopefully he’ll be alright for tomorrow – I’m sure he will be.”
