Rooney said: “I’m a northern lad and I’d like to think I could stay here for the rest of my career.
“As for moving abroad can you ever seem me playing for a foreign team? I love England and I love being close to my family.
“I’ve said many times before how much I enjoy playing here and nothing will change that.
“I’m living just 30 miles away from my family. To be honest I don’t even like going down to London. I am not comfortable there.
“The fans here appreciate players who give their all for the team and that’s what I try to do.
“I am really settled now after getting married in the summer and I have my close friends and family around m. I am really happy.”
He continued: “I am probably playing the best football of my career. I am scoring goals and getting involved in the game a lot more. I’m really enjoying my football at the moment.
“I can’t put that down to anything in particular. I am working hard in training and working hard on the pitch and it is paying off.
“I don’t agree with the claim that my career had stopped progressing – not at all.
“I’m just at the start of my fifth year at Man United and I’m close to 100 goals for the club. That’s 20 goals a season and which for any forward is a good record.
“I’m 15 or 16 off my ton for the club and I hope to get there this season.
“It would also be nice to beat my best season total of 23. But 42 like Cristiano scored last season? That would be hard to achieve.”
