Kuranyi has admitted that he believes Schalke are ready to let him leave the Veltins Arena.
The Germany international has been linked with a move to Blackburn.
He told Kicker magazine: “Honestly, I really have the feeling that the club would more like to sell me than extend my contract.
“Publicly, so much is said and I really have to be prepared.
“The club has not come up with talks about my contract during the winter break.
“I like being at Schalke and I like staying at Schalke, but the club has to decide.”
Schalke general manager Andreas Muller admitted: “No player is not for sale.”
