The 25-year-old has signed a two-year contract with Schalke and joins the club on a free transfer after being released from his contract with Stuttgart earlier this summer.
“Ciprian is definitely the striker we have been looking for,” Schalke first-team coach Horst Heldt told the club’s official website.
“He knows the Bundesliga, he is able to speak various languages and in addition to this he was available on a free transfer.
“We are delighted to see this deal going through because there were plenty of other clubs in Europe keen on signing him.”
