Scholes said: “The score says everything. To come to a tough place like Spurs and win 4-0 is a big result for us.
“Our attacking play was the key to the victory. We knew we could exploit them at the back with the pace and strength we’ve got up front.
“We therefore tried to get the ball forward as much as we could to cause them problems. Thankfully we managed to do that.”
The midfielder added: “We thought Chelsea would win at Charlton and given that we probably had the more difficult game this is a great result for us.
“You never know what will happen between now and the end of the season, all we can do is keep plugging away and hopefully come May we’ll get our rewards.”
