The former Real Madrid coach’s resignation came as a shock to his club, who issued a statement which read: “The resignation is a surprise to us. Schuster said he wanted to leave because he could not achieve the things he wanted to, and he didn’t want to exploit our confidence in him and be paid for nothing.”
Besiktas have won one game in seven in the Turkish league, and lie seventh, 21 points behind leaders Fenerbahce.
