Neymar, Liverpool star Lucas as well as a Brazilian press officer alleged that a Scottish fan had insultingly thrown a banana toward Neymar during the friendly game last Sunday.
However following the incident a German fan, who was supporting Brazil admitted to throwing the banana, and the Scottish FA have requested an apology from Neymar or the Brazilian FA following the worldwide coverage of the racism allegations.
The SFA was “dismayed at the allegations which were flashed around the world.”
Celtic captain Brown added:
“We are not a racist country and we know it wasn’t us, it was some young lad from Germany. I think they should just apologise and get it over and done with.”
Neymar has since refused to apologise, stating that he objected to the racist act but did not specifically accuse anyone.
