Berbatov has struggled to win over the Old Trafford faithful, following his £30million move from Tottenham last summer.
Sheringham said: “I’m a big, big fan of Dimitar Berbatov. In fact, I think he’s a player like no other.
“He goes around the pitch at his own pace then he’ll put on a burst and leave his man for dead.
“He does things you don’t expect and that’s what makes him so exciting. I really enjoy watching him. But I can understand how he could frustrate some supporters.
“Some people want to see a bit more enthusiasm from him but that’s just how he plays football. Personally, I love it.”
