The 26-year-old joins Spartak in a €400,000 deal after passing a medical on Friday.
A statement on the club’s official website said: “Spartak have signed Sergio Rodriguez. Rodriguez, Sergio Garcia, or simply Rodri, was born August 17, 1984 in the Spanish town of Mataro in Catalonia.
“The 26-year-old central defender (185 cm) is an alumnus of the famous Barcelona. From 2003 to 2006 he played for the reserve team of FC Barcelona, and from 2004 to 2006 – for the first team.
“From 2006 to 2009 he was at Deportivo La Coruna. Since 2009, he was playing for Hercules of Alicante, where he played over 38 matches and scored 4 goals.
“Rodri today joined the team in Holland.”
