Spurs took the lead through Sebastien Bassong at St Andrews but Craig Gardner headed home the equaliser for the hosts.
“We came in at half-time and really we should have had the game wrapped up. We dominated and played some great stuff,” he told Sky Sports.
“In the second half we started to drop deeper and they brought the big fella’ on and started to hit diagonal balls.
“Birmingham never give up. They work hard and never know when they are beaten, their record here shows that.
“But we should have had it sewn up early. It could have been game over in the first half.”
He added: “I fancy us to play anybody. I really thought we’d come here and win.
“I was disappointed in the end because I thought there was three points here for us.”
