Jol is delighted with the improving form of the midfielder.
He said: “Jenas is developing in personality. I can’t ask for more. He knows what we need – leadership in midfield. We’ve got a different midfield this season with Didier Zokora, and Tom Huddlestone is young.
“It’s something you noticed against Sheffield United, he scored the first goal and was vocal. He knew we needed that.
“Against Everton he saw what we needed more of, it’s a natural thing. It’s not something from last week, he is developing into a player who is getting older and doing well.
“He is English, which is important – for a foreign player it is more difficult.”
