The 21-year-old impressed at the World Cup and has continued to impress in pre-season for Spurs.
The Spurs boss told the club’s official website: “He’s come back from the World Cup in great form.
“The World Cup will have done him the world of good and his attitude has been spot on.
“I’ve been pleased with him all pre-season.
“He’s got outstanding ability, the ability to be a top, top player. He is clever, goes at defenders and has great close control.
“He’s a nice lad, a young lad and there is a chance for him now. It’s up to him.”
