Strachan said: “We were playing a very good team. We were playing against a team that beat Liverpool and Manchester United last season.
“It was excellent. How our two strikers played dictated our play.
“This puts us in a decent position in the group. We would have accepted that a month ago.”
He added: “We’re just thinking about trying to qualify.
“That would be a great boost for Scottish football.
“And the big plus is that there were a lot of Scottish players out there.”
