“You get out there. You are playing in front of 40-odd thousand people and the adrenalin kicks in. If that doesn’t get you going, then something is wrong. If lads think they’re going to go into a game in tip-top condition, it’s not going to happen. The nature of this game doesn’t let you do that.
“There are not many players in the Premier League at this moment in time who could say they are 100 per cent fit. To me it’s a case of just dealing with it and getting on with it and not playing the sympathy vote.”
