News of the World says Bruce is keen on signing the midfielder in a £4million deal as he is convinced he can get the Ireland’s career back on track.
Ireland has been struggling on the sidelines at the City of Manchester Stadium this season after being named the club’s Player of the Year last season.
Ireland is expected to leave City at the end of the season.
