The Sunderland Echo reports that Sunderland are ideally looking to take the 27-year-old striker on loan.
The Portuguese international has scored seven goals in 15 appearances for Besiktas.
Everton are also reportedly interested in the striker, who would be keen on a move to the Premier League.
