Sunderland suffered a 5-1 defeat to their rivals Newcastle at the weekend.
“We’ve just got to stick together,” Turner told the Northern Echo.
“We’ve got another tough game this weekend – and we’ve just got to work hard in training. That is really the only answer to it.
“We’ve got to forget about it as quickly as possible. We can’t let our season be ruined by one bad result, even thought it’s against our local rivals. We’ve got Stoke on Saturday, we have to concentrate on that.
“It is just one game. I know it’s massive and we’ve let people down badly but we’ve got to dust ourselves down, get ourselves right again and to make the fans proud again.
“It was humiliating, of course we’re upset. We’re frustrated, not only with ourselves but we’ve let the manager down, the fans, both the ones who were here and the ones watching on telly.
“We’ve let them down massively so it’s very disappointing.”
