The Ghana international striker has joined United Arab Emirates side Al-Ain on a one-year loan deal with a view to a permanent move.
Gyan is currently earning around £50,000-a-week at Sunderland, but will see that increase to almost £200,000-a-week tax free while playing for Al-Ain.
Al-Ain has agreed to pay the Black Cats around £5million for the Ghana striker’s season-long loan stint.
Gyan joined Sunderland in a £11.2million deal from Rennes in August of last year and it is expected the Black Cats would recoup more than that should the striker make his move to Al-Ain permanent.
