The 27-year-old has failed to make an impact at Stoke since joining the club from Sheffield United in 2008.
“I am in a bit of a strange situation but I’ll be at Stoke getting fit for the new season and will speak to the manager,” he told The Sentinel.
“I’d like to be playing again this season, but it looks as though it might be elsewhere.
“I am not complaining about that, just being realistic.
“I’m certainly not sulking about my situation.
“From my point of view, I want to get fit for the new season and see what happens.”
