“After yesterday’s game we were more satisfied than after the draw away to Reggina,” he said. “We came off the pitch with our heads held high, we were applauded by our fans, and we are already eager to play on Wednesday in Verona [against Chievo]. Despite losing, we have made a step forward.”
He added: “On the first two goals we were very unlucky and they were very fortunate. [Amantino] Mancini crossed the ball in, [Marco] Pisano deflected it and instead of sending it into the area it went in goal.
“Maicon, meanwhile, scored a goal that he would probably never have scored again in a hundred attempts. Certainly, many of Inter’s players would be able to come up with great goals like that, but for a strike like that to go in off the crossbar with such power and precision doesn’t happen every day.
“With a bit more good luck, we could at least have lost by a smaller margin.”
