Manchester United looks set to make a £27 million swoop for Torres in the summer.
Atletico sporting director Jesus Garcia Pitarch said: “To hold on to Fernando Torres, a product of the youth system, seems virtually impossible.”
Newcastle had a £25 million bid for Torres turned down in January, according to reports.
