It’s believed that the Reds have agreed to pay a club record of £26.5m to Atletico Madrid for the 23 year-old Spanish striker and that now only personal terms need to be finalised. Only a few days ago Atletico denied they had received any bids from any team for Torres but maybe they wanted to make sure a replacement was secured before confirming to their fans that their hero was leaving.
That replacement in the form of Uruguayan Diego Forlan has now arrived from Villareal on a four-year deal and it’s expected that Torres will settle personal terms with Liverpool next week when he gets back from holiday.
