City have spent heavily on new players since Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed al-Nahyan took over the club and their performances on the pitch have improved.
“At the moment you cannot compare Barcelona with City,” Toure said. “Barca are at the top and have top quality players: Lionel Messi, Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Daniel Alves. But City are still signing new players. In a couple of years we could maybe be better than Barcelona. But what we need to continue to do is to work hard and improve with every single game.
“We are in a good position in the FA Cup and Europa League and we are well placed for the top four. Our target is to be in the Champions League next year. It is very important for the club. It will be tough to stay in there, though, because Liverpool are coming and I am sure Chelsea will be back.”
