The 19-year-old instead decided to sign a new contract with the Eredivisie side.
“When I extended my contract at FC Twente, I had the opportunity to go to Manchester United and Arsenal,” he told De Telegraaf.
“But I chose to take my chances at Twente.
“If I’m really good, there will still be a chance to go to a big club.”
