A Bola reports that John is ready to snub interest from Premier League clubs in favour of a move to Benfica.
Benfica are keen to bring in John as a potential replacement for Nico Gaitan, who is being strongly linked with a move to Manchester United.
John would cost the Portuguese side around £9million and the club is ready to hand the winger a five-year contract.
