United insists they have done everything by the book when they signed 16-year-old French midfielder Paul Pogba.
Le Havre have this week reported United to Fifa over the same deal.
United are now ready to ask Fifa to force Le Havre and the French FA to release Pogba’s international clearance papers.
Le Havre have asked the French FA not to hand over the papers releasing the youngster to United.
The French side wants United to be handed a similar pentaly as Chelsea, who was banned from signing any players in the next two transfer windows.
A United source told The People last night: “We would vigorously deny any wrong-doing in the signing of Paul Pogba. Le Havre’s complaint and call for action against United is complete nonsense. Everything has been done within UEFA guidelines.
“Our next move is to speak with FIFA and ask them to compel the French federation to release Pogba’s papers so he can join up with us.
“The boy wants to come to United because he knows we give talented young players a chance to make a big future for themselves.”
