De Zeeuw has made 203 appearances for Wigan.
New boss Chris Hutchings told Wigan’s official website: “Unsy’s goal against Sheffield United will live long in the memory and its significance can never be underestimated.
“Arjan is definitely one of the best professionals I have ever worked with.”
Hutchings added: “Arjan has been a wonderful servant to Wigan, a true leader on and off the field and has been a major player for us in two spells here, and I’ve been privileged to work with him during both.
“I wish him all the best in the future.”
David Unsworth saved the Latics from relegation with a penalty goal against Sheffield United.
