Van Bommel have previously spent six years with the Dutch giants and the 31-year-old could make a return to the club at the end of the season when his contract with Bayern Munic expires.
Van Bommel told Radio 538: “PSV is a serious option (if I am to leave Bayern).
“The interest flatters me. When I left there three years ago I said I would return one day.”
He added on his contract situation: “I don’t know what they are going to say. If they don’t want me anymore, we will think about other options.”
PSV’s transfer chief Arie van Kraay told Algemeen Dagblad: “I understand no one can leave Bayern in the winter transfer window.
“We could, for example, make a bid of say €1million (£850,000) for a player who has just half a year left on his contract.
“But Bayern do not lack money. We will have to forget this matter.”
