The 26-year-old is only prepared to leave the Spanish giants for a team in one of Europe’s major leagues.
Van der Vaart has been told by Real Madrid that he is surplus to requirements at the club.
“Martin Jol has already contacted me, but I do not intend to return to my former team,” Van der Vaart told reporters in Spain.
“My dream is to play in a major championships namely England, Spain, Italy or Germany. Other proposals from abroad do not interest me.”
