Villas Boas defends referee Torres red card

Torres scored the opening goal of the 4-1 win against Swansea before being sent off for a bad challenge.

“There is nothing [for Torres] to apologise for. The sending-off, I have nothing to say, it looks a good decision by the referee. It’s part of the nature of the game and the referee has decided like that. It’s a pity because the spectacle is promising and it could have gone on to be a good afternoon for us and the fans, who are the most important people in football. But in the end that’s what the referee decided and we just had to adjust.”
