Beckham earned his 106th cap for England when he replaced Walcott in the 5-1 win over Kazakhstan yesterday.
“I’ve played for England for almost 12 years on that right side and there’s a lot of young, talented players coming through and Theo’s definitely one of those,” he told Setanta Sports News.
“He deserves his place – he’s playing for one of the best club sides in Europe and he’s done great when he’s played for England.
“The last game he was exceptional. He’s always such a threat. When he runs at players, there’s no one who can get near him.
“It’s great to watch someone like that play and great to see someone like that coming through for England because he’s a very talented player.”
