Wenger believes leaders Chelsea will carry on slipping up in the title race.
Wenger said: “I said after our game with them that Chelsea will drop points, do you remember my statement? And everybody looked at me: ’This guy has completely lost the plot.’
“One week later they lost an Man City, and it’s as simple as that. They have lost three games and they will lose more games, don’t worry.
“I think it will take between 78 and 83 points to win the league. I know that because how many games have Chelsea played? Fifteen? They have 36 points, double that and then with eight games to go they can be 84.
“It’s not finished, Chelsea will drop points. They have lost three out of 15, we have lost four, and that’s why I say it will be maybe more difficult than everybody expects it to be.
“This season, more than ever, it looks to be a very open Premier League campaign and because it is more open and because everybody has already slipped up – us at Sunderland, Man United at Burnley – nobody can really predict what will happen.”
